Har Ghar Jal - Jal Jeevan Mission

Unique Welfare Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Jal Shakti, successfully conducted a Water Conservation Program under the Jal Jeevan Mission (Har Ghar Jal). The mission aims to provide individual household tap connections to every rural household by 2024. This initiative was implemented in Pratapgarh, Jaunpur, Amethi, and other districts of Uttar Pradesh to enhance water conservation awareness and promote sustainable water usage.

Objectives

  • To raise awareness about water conservation and sustainable usage practices.
  • To educate rural communities on the importance of clean and safe drinking water.
  • To support the implementation of individual household tap connections.
  • To involve local stakeholders in spreading awareness and ensuring community participation.
  • To address challenges related to water scarcity and infrastructure gaps.

Implementation Strategy

To achieve the objectives, the following strategies were employed:

Awareness sessions were conducted in villages to educate people about water conservation techniques and the significance of safe drinking water
-- Door-to-Door Campaigns
Volunteers visited households to inform families about the mission, its benefits, and proper water management practices.
-- Collaboration with Local Leaders
Panchayat members, school teachers, and community influencers were involved to disseminate information effectively.
-- Visual Aids & Digital Tools
Posters, banners, and videos were used to simplify complex information and increase engagement.
-- Demonstrations
Practical demonstrations on rainwater harvesting, water recycling, and leakage prevention were conducted.

The Water Conservation Program under the Jal Jeevan Mission has made significant progress in raising awareness and promoting sustainable water use in rural areas of Uttar Pradesh. Water Harvesting

Unique Welfare Foundation has been actively implementing a Water Harvesting Project in Pratapgarh district, focusing on sustainable water management and conservation. The key initiatives under this project include:

Constructing and rejuvenating ponds to enhance groundwater recharge.
Desilting and deepening of existing ponds to increase water retention capacity.
Ensuring proper embankment strengthening to prevent soil erosion.

Installing water collection systems to capture excess water from household taps.
Promoting awareness on minimizing water wastage in daily use.
Implementing small-scale recharge pits for collected water.

Setting up rooftop rainwater harvesting structures in community spaces, schools, and public institutions.
Creating percolation pits to enhance groundwater levels.
Promoting sustainable agricultural irrigation methods using harvested rainwater.
